We're Ready for Summer and We Have The Perfect Bourbon Drink Recipe

Our shoot was inspired by the flirty fun of summer, the bright colors of citrus, and a healthy dose of wanderlust! Using Portland’s own local Temperance Trader bourbon (delicious!) and the summery flavors of ginger, fig and strawberry, we created a refreshing, light drink to make any late spring or early summer party a smashing success!
— Joni Whitworth

In Kentucky, we love two things for sure: bourbon, and summertime. Yes, we are some bourbon-loving, cocktail-sipping, flip-flop-wearing girls! And we've got the perfect bourbon drink recipe from bartender Joni Whitworth, "the mint," of Mint + Mirth to get you pepped for summer!

Mint + Mirth is a Portland-based cocktail bar tending duo, that focuses on creating experiences around each client's unique personality and style. Joni, and her partner, Jennelle, "the mirth," work with clients to create delicious custom cocktails. Of course, we LOVE this idea for bridal and wedding showers, and we had to share it with you!

The shoot, which was styled by Abby Elvebak of ae creative, is perfect inspiration for a backyard, or destination shower. With just a few mason jars, striped straws, and vintage suitcases, you could create this look this summer. Easy, right? Now you can enjoy your cocktails!

Joni suggests using Portland's own Temperance Trader Bourbon, but Kentucky girls tend be very opinionated about their choice of bourbon, so we'll just keep our mouth's shut about that, and let you make the call ;-). The recipe for this summery mix is below.
