Host a Stock the Bar Bridal Shower Infographic & Cheat Sheet

Slideshow: Stock the Bar Gift Ideas

I’ve mentioned in a few articles that a lot of our themes would be great for stocking your bride’s bar which sometimes gets overlooked in the present department. Hosting one of these also plays very well into coed showers, which can sometimes be a little awkward, but nothing brings people together like alcohol.

Make sure to mention on the invitations that you’re hosting a stock the bar themed shower so guests know to come with alcohol related gifts.

Confirm the Theme with the Bride & Pick Invitations

So first things first, make sure the stock the bar theme matches your bride, and confirm it with her. If your bride loves the idea, then go right on ahead and order some cute stock the bar theme related invitations. Think martini glasses or shakers, maybe a wine glass or bottle or something to do with bars or cocktails. Make sure to mention on the invitations that you’re hosting a stock the bar themed shower so guests know to come with alcohol related gifts.

Pick a Venue & Hire a Bartender

A good rule of thumb is 2 drinks per person per hour.

Now, most people have showers at their house or maybe even a clubhouse if one is available. Something nice with this theme might be renting out a bar or area in a restaurant (yay no clean up for you!). You can even ask the bartender show your guests how to make different types of cocktails. If you are having it at your place, you might able to hire a bartender or ask someone you know who is good with mixing drinks to your house and teach your guests how to mix a drink. Just make sure you have plenty of whatever type of alcohol you’re serving on hand and plenty of glasses. A good rule of thumb is 2 drinks per person per hour.

Plan Your Menu

You’ll want to make sure whatever you’re serving that there’s plenty of it so people don’t get too snockered.

The best type of food for this event will depend on what type of alcohol you’re serving. If you’re making it a wine themed bridal shower, make sure you go with cheeses and fruits that are going to fit the types of wine that you’re serving. If you’re actually doing cocktails, pull out some modern shrimp cocktails, caprese salad skewers, or maybe even some cute mini burgers and fries. You’ll want to make sure whatever you’re serving that there’s plenty of it so people don’t get too snockered.

…make sure your guests drink responsibly, and have designated drivers. It’s also a good idea to have the number of a taxi service ready, and to call ahead for any guests you know will need a ride home.

Choose a Bridal Shower Game or Activity

For activities you can do something you would have at a regular party like charades or scattergories. These don’t have to be wedding related unless you want them to be. Have fun! We give you permission :) Or you could have a drinking game - everyone drinks when someone says wedding, bride, groom, etc. But remember anytime you host a party or shower where alcohol is served make sure your guests drink responsibly, and have designated drivers. It’s also a good idea to have the number of a taxi service ready, and to call ahead for any guests you know will need a ride home.

You’ll have a great time with this shower, and so will your bride! Let us know how yours went.
