Sorry 🤷🏽‍♀️Sorry 🤷🏽‍♀️ I think I just dropped the biggest #truthbomb of my life: We're all starting over in less than ideal circumstances and pretending that it's a great opportunity.
Two years ago, after breaking up with the person I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with, I cried "this is not how my life was supposed to be" aloud in the middle of the night as cleaned Jeff's first projectile barf out of the carpet. But honestly, it was so pathetic that I actually started laughing.

Three weeks ago, I found out that Jeff doesn't have much time left.

It turns out that life is not a romantic comedy. Sometimes you systematically lose everything you've ever worked for over the course of five years, and you have to pretend that starting over with a blank slate is a great opportunity even when it's essentially just a lot of work that perpetually fails to produce a return on your investment of time and mental energy.
Honestly, I don't what my point is other than to say that I've been through more than you can ever imagine. Things that you could not even think to make up, I survived.

Sometimes something happens that is so bad that you're like, "this is the thing that will probably kill me," and then that's the idea that you latch on to. It's actually kind of embarrassing when it doesn't kill you, and you're like "jk." .
It turns what doesn't kill you will make you stronger is a real thing. But also just because you're not dead doesn't mean it doesn't genuinely suck.

If you're a crazy person right now because of what you've been through, that's legit. Embrace it. Don't try to pretend like you haven't lost you're mind and that it's business as usual. Just be like "this is me, and I need to stay in with my cats to binge watch episodes of 'I Survived' every night. Deal with it." I guess what I'm saying is that if you've experienced massive loss or disappointment, and you have to fight with your brain on the regular, don't feel like you need to try harder or fix something about yourself. You should be kind to yourself because pretending like you're always fine is mentally and physically exhausting. It's okay if you're not fine. Life isn't perfect. You're still loved.I think I just dropped the biggest #truthbomb of my life: We're all starting over in less than ideal circumstances and pretending that it's a great opportunity.

We went crazy for this real bridal shower when we saw it, and we had to share it with you! You can steal this beach style even if you don’t live on the coast. Here are the details to help you get inspired:

The Shower

Bride, Marissa, was surprised by her family and friends who hosted this gorgeous beach theme bridal shower for her at LaPlaya hotel & resort in Naples, Florida. Some guests even arrived from out of town to enjoy a lovely brunch with cocktails, cupcakes, and super cute monogram cookie favors.

The Design Breakdown

Destination wedding specialist, Stephanie Meiser, of Along Came Stephanie, did a great job of making this shower feel be achy and feminine by choosing a crisp palette of ivory, sand, blush, apricot, and gold. She maintained consistency in her design by repeating the chevron motif in the sequin table runners, invitations, cupcake wrappers, and cookie favors. Meiser paired the chevrons with a monogram emblem in the mimosa drink stirrers, cupcake toppers, brunch buffet menu, cookie favors, and invitations. The result is a breezy and refined design. The floral designer created fresh, and elegant centerpieces by combing white hydrangeas with ivory and blush roses in simple glass vases.

About Me

“My clients have a strong sense of personal style, and it’s important that their events reflect their preferences in a way that is completely original.”

I’m Gabrielle and I’m the founder and designer behind Event 29, an event design company. I live in Louisville, KY, where I’m incredibly lucky to have a small work studio inside my home.

My Mission

I believe in the power of transformative space. I think that our moods feed off of the spaces we occupy. I strive to create event spaces that engage my clients and their guests, in a way that is warm and welcoming. My style is dictated by an informal and non-traditional approach to entertaining. I believe that getting together should be true and beautiful. My goal is to simply help people connect.

What I Do

I provide personalized coordination packages by carefully listening to my client’s needs to understand her biggest concerns. I do everything I can to exceed my client’s expectations, and make her feel like a guest at her own wedding. No matter how big or small the wedding will be, I go above and beyond to make the planning process enjoyable and my client’s wedding day as memorable as she is.
